FPInnovations staff recognized for their achievements

October 13, 2015  By Cindy Macdonald

FPInnovations is celebrating after receiving three accolades from well-respected industry associations in September.

The Canadian Institute of Forestry-Institut forestier du Canada (CIF-IFC) named FPInnovations the recipient of the 2015 Canadian Forest Management Group Achievement Award. The award recognizes outstanding achievements made by teams or groups in the field of forest resource-related activities in Canada.
The CIF-IFC also named Anne LeBrun Ruff, FPInnovations’ provincial leader for the Atlantic Region, as the recipient of the James M. Kitz Award for her outstanding contributions to innovation, peer-to-peer collaboration, and sustainable forestry. The award recognizes the contributions of forest practitioners newer to the profession.
Also in September, FPInnovations’ research leader Conroy Lum received the L.J. Markwardt Award from ASTM International for his extensive contributions to the development of standards for the engineering use of wood and wood-based materials in building construction.
“We are honoured and are very proud of these awards. As a world-leading, knowledge-driven R&D institute, we believe that people are our most important asset and such awards are confirmation of that simple fact. We thank each of the esteemed associations that continue to recognize our hard work,” said Pierre Lapointe, president and CEO of FPInnovations.
These most recent awards follow a series of accolades awarded to FPInnovations’ staff this year.
In March, three outstanding researchers at FPInnovations – Erol Karacabeyli, Michael Paleologou and Paul Morris – received honours given by respected industry associations for their exceptional contributions and accomplishments in the forest industry.
In February, FPInnovations’ provincial leader for Ontario, John Pineau, was named one of the recipients of the Ontario Forest Industry Association’s Forest Sector Champion Awards. In the same month, FPInnovations’ president and CEO Pierre Lapointe was presented the John S. Bates Memorial Gold Medal by PAPTAC.
FPInnovations is a not-for-profit organization that specializes in the creation of scientific solutions in support of the Canadian forest sector.
