MONTREAL, QC — The Canadian chemical market pulp industry produced 796 000 tonnes in March 2000, up 20 000 tonnes, or 3%, from March 1999, said Pulp and Paper Products Council. The industry shipped 825 000 tonnes: domestic shipments totaled 69 000 tonnes, deliveries to the US 279 000 tonnes, to Western Europe 218 000 tonnes, and to Asia and Africa 143 000 tonnes. At current shipping rates, Canadian producers held an estimated 19 days of supply on March 31, one day less than on February 29.
