TAPPI launches new online forum

August 17, 2016  By Cindy Macdonald

TAPPI’s new online forum, TAPPI Connect, provides an online resource for members, non-members, and volunteers to collaborate, share knowledge and expand their personal and professional networks.

TAPPI is an international association representing the pulp, paper, packaging and related forest products industries. The new forum has been designed to overcome some of the problems of an earlier platform.

TAPPI initially recruited a steering committee consisting of volunteers who represent the majority of its 12 divisions to help investigate the pitfalls of the previous online platform and assist in establishing goals for the functionality and user-friendliness of the new program.

Over several months, the committee provided both feedback and suggestions on what they sought regarding the new program’s features and uses as well as provided input concerning the most effective means of encouraging its use among TAPPI’s extensive membership.

Currently, there are more than 60 committee areas available to students, young professionals and experts in the industries. Users can participate in real-time communication as well as create blogs, ask and answer questions, recruit volunteers, and enhance their membership experience. Additionally, TAPPI Connect holds content for member and committee profiles, calendars and file sharing for items such as agendas, meeting minutes and manuscripts.

For more information on the platform, visit connect.tappi.org.
