On a positive note, Abitibi-LP Engineered Wood is constructing a new engineered wood facility in Saint-Prime, QC. A joint venture between Abitibi-Consolidated and Louisiana-Pacific Corporation, the facility will be the second of its kind to produce I-joists and will be an expansion of Abitibi-Consolidated’s Saint-Prime mill.

The expansion constitutes an investment of $13 million and a total of 40 additional jobs will be created. Operations are scheduled to start up in the fall of 2005.
