The members of the Alberta Forest Products Association have selected Roger Loberg as the chairman of the AFPA’s Board of Directors. Loberg was appointed during the AFPA Annual General Meeting in Jasper in late September.
“I am looking forward to serving the AFPA as chair,” says Loberg. “Although I share the concerns about the current state of the industry, I know that our members are resilient and will emerge from this downturn stronger and healthier than ever before.”
“I will be working with the AFPA staff and membership to continue progress on important files such as the implementation of the FISC recommendations, engagement and participation in the Land Use Framework, and working pro-actively with government in the fight against the Mountain Pine Beetle,” he adds.
Loberg has had a distinguished career in the forest industry spanning more than 35 years. He has held a number of positions in manufacturing, wood handling, and wood procurement with Weyerhaeuser Company Ltd. Since 2001, he has served as Timberlands Manager at Weyerhaeuser’s Grande Prairie location. Loberg has also served on the FRIAA Board of Directors, the Canadian Woodlands Forum, the AFPA Forest Management Committee, and 2 terms on the AFPA Board of Directors, most recently as Vice-Chair.
As part of the Annual General Meeting, AFPA member companies also ratified the 2009-10 Board of Directors. The AFPA Board of Directors is comprised of member company representatives from four industry sectors: lumber, panelboard, pulp and paper, and secondary manufacturing.
