Baby boomer diapers expected to boost the paper industry

Mar. 15, 2017 – Bloomberg News is reporting that as the world population ages, sales will consequently increase for absorbent hygiene products, providing “welcome relief” for papermakers who have been impacted by the digital era.

According to Gibsons, B.C.-based ERA Forest Products Research, demand is projected to grow 4 per cent in 2017, boosting prospects for companies including International Paper Co. and Domtar Corp. who are expanding production of the moisture-capturing fiber used in diapers and tampons.
