Biden’s proposed Buy American policies could affect Canadian materials

Experts say the broad number of Canadian businesses that bid on U.S. government contracts may be facing supply chain pressures and trade tensions, with stronger Buy American policies included on Joe Biden’s presidential to-do list.
The Canadian Press reports that Biden’s plan to award government contracts only to suppliers that manufacture in the U.S. may cause higher demand for the materials required for construction, such as wood products, steel and aluminum – which could affect Canadian producers if they’re eventually blocked from delivering on those contracts.
