Swedish pulp and paper manufacturer BillerudKorsnäs is cutting up to 300 staff as part of a cost reduction program that the company says will lead to efficiency and profitability.

The measures include staff cuts in mainly administration, purchasing-related savings and efficiency improvements throughout the business. Negotiations with the trade unions will begin shortly.

As a part of a strategic update, BillerudKorsnäs is expecting positive effects of approximately SEK 250 million on total earnings of around SEK 600 million.

This programme will ensure long-term efficiency and profitability.”

The updated strategy also involves BillerudKorsnäs accelerating its innovation and repositioning solutions. The strategy focuses on clearer priorities and concrete initiatives that challenge conventional packaging.
