The path is being paved for Abitibi-Consolidateds proposed bio-mass boiler project, Fort Frances Times Online has reported.

Applications to amend the towns official plan and a zoning bylaw to permit the facility to be constructed have been passed, the report confirmed.

Im glad to see council passed the bylaws so that theres no obstacles for Abitibi to jump over if we were to get that biomass boiler, Fort Frances Times Online reported Mayor Roy Avis as saying.

The companys board of directors was scheduled to meet with local mill management on the morning of March 6, in order to discuss funding for the $84.3 million project.
