Boise Cascade sold its paper, forest products and timberland assets to affiliates of Boise Cascade, LLC, a new company formed by Madison Dearborn Partners LLC, for approximately $3.7 billion.

Effective November 1st, 2004, Boise Cascade Corporation changed its company name to OfficeMax Incorporated. It will continue to operate its office products distribution business as its principal business.

The transaction marks the completion of the company’s transformation, first started in the mid 1990’s from a manufacturing-based business, to one with a predominant focus on distribution.
