Bowater appoints Jacques Mnard

The board of directors of Bowater Inc. elected L. Jacques Mnard to the company’s board, effective January 1, 2002.

The board of directors of Bowater Inc. elected L. Jacques Mnard to the company’s board, effective January 1, 2002.
Mr. Mnard is chairman of BMO Nesbitt Burns, an investment banking firm, and president of the Bank of Montreal Group of Companies, as well as the immediate past chairman of the board of Hydro-Qubec. He currently serves as vice-chairman of Gaz Mtropolitain Inc. and is a director of Rona Inc. He was a director of Alliance Forest Products Inc. until Alliance was purchased by Bowater in September 2001.
