Bowater’s Catawba operations have been named 2004 Manufacturer of the Year. The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers bestowed the company with the honor after evaluating it in terms of six criteria. Components included quality improvement of product, quality of life for employees, environmental stewardship, community and professional involvement, community partnerships and overall effectiveness, facility productivity, operating results and employee safety and site security.
"Our employees and managers have worked very hard to be deserving of this award," said vice president and mill manager Bud Nash.
