THUNDER BAY, ON — The midwest branch of Pulp and Paper Technical Association of Canada (PAPTAC) is once again holding an annual conference, whose theme is “technology, cost efficiency and team building for tomorrow to be world class.” The conference, from September 29 to October 1, 1999, which will be centred at the Valhalla Inn in Thunder Bay, ON, will include two-and-a-half days of sessions, a president’s panel and a session on business economics, as well as a golf tournament with lots of prizes for all who participate in the conference. To support this initiative, the branch is inviting papers that deal with such topics as pulping, bleaching, papermaking, deinking, sustainable forest management and effluent reduction. Last year saw the participation of 400 mill people and 54 exhibitors.
