HELSINKI, FINLAND — The Program Committee of the International Mechanical Pulping Conference — scheduled for June 4 to 8, 2001 — has issued its first call for papers. Those wishing to present a paper or a poster at the conference should submit an abstract of between 300 and 500 words, which can include a maximum of two figures, no later than September 15, 2000. The Committee requests papers on such topics as future of mechanical pulp use, furnish challenges, mill experience and research, and how to achieve lower energy consumption. Abstracts and questions on the conference should be sent either to Jan Sundholm, technical secretary of the program committee, KCL, at jan.sundholm@kcl.fi; or to Siru Kaukanen, conference secretary, KCL, at siru.kaukanen@kcl.fi.
