Canfor is preparing to close its finger joint lumber line in Grande Prairie, AB, for an indefinite period. At the same time, the company will be taking downtime at its Mackenzie sawmill and its PolarBoard OSB facility in BC.

Canfor cited a depressed market, falling OSB prices and a high Canadian dollar as reasons for the cuts.

In a silver lining, no jobs will be eliminated by the closure of the finger joint mill, as workers will instead direct their energies to the sawmill, which is in the same location.
