Canfor is curbing production at its Taylor Pulp mill starting Monday, November 10. Falling demand and prices in Asia over the past four weeks prompted the decision.

The mill will be out of operation until the 18th, effectively removing 5,000 tonnes from the market. The company plans to use the time to undertaken maintenance work.

“The temporary shutdown reflects the difficult market decisions facing pulp companies in British Columbia,” president and CEO of Canfor Jim Shepard said. The company hopes the curtailment will help rebalance its inventories.
