Catalyst Paper orders temporary stop on two paper machines
December 4, 2018 By P&PC Staff
December 4, 2018 – British Columbia–based Catalyst Paper is in the midst of a 10-day curtailment on two of its machines that began November 30.
According to local paper Campbell River Now, president and CEO Ned Dwyer confirmed one paper machine at Powell River mill and one at the Port Alberni mill are on a temporary stop, impacting about 140 employees at both mills.
Dwyer says that the cooling Asian market, where Catalyst had been increasing its sales, is the reason for the shutdown of the machines.
