Catalyst Paper recognized as industry leader in energy efficiency and environmental performance

Photo: Paper Excellence Catalyst Paper, a Paper Excellence company, received a SmartWay Excellence award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The company was recognized as an industry leader in freight supply chain environmental performance and energy efficiency, through this award.
Catalyst partners with SmartWay carriers that share the same values in environmental leadership. These carriers invest in energy-efficient lightweight equipment. This allows Catalyst to plan ahead and load equipment to the maximum capacity, thus reducing the number of trucks and railcars being shipped.
“I’m proud of our logistics team and the staff at the Surrey Distribution Centre for achieving this SmartWay designation and their outstanding performance this year focusing on reducing greenhouse gas emissions through more efficient shipping,” said Hamish Doughty, vice-president, supply chain.
Catalyst Paper was one of 12 shipper and logistics companies to receive this award. The awards were announced at a virtual press conference hosted by the EPA.
