Cascades Inc. appointed Eric Laflamme as president and COO, North America of Cascades Boxboard Group Inc.

Simon Davies was named Georgia-Pacific’s senior vice president-fiber management, for the consumer products and packaging organization.

Wayne R. Sanders resigned as Kimberly-Clark Corporation’s CEO and will retire as chairman. Thomas J. Falk succeeds him as CEO, and will serve as president and board member.

Gene Foster was named vice president, Boise Paper Solutions – Minnesota operations, of Boise Cascade Corp. Larry Roesel and Scott Williams were named divisional vice presidents.

John Bergin joined Stora Enso North America’s executive management group.

Abitibi-Consolidated appointed Jean-Franois Guillot as general manager of the Stephenville division. Geoff Clarke is appointed as production manager, while David Bradbury will be technical manager, Grand Falls division.

Our Condolences

Arthur C. Veverka, formerly president and CEO of Jaakko Poyry Consulting, Inc., passed away in November in Quechee, VT. He was 62.

Veverka began his career in the pulp and paper industry in 1966, being an engineer for St-Regis. He was best remembered for his work in improving mill operations at pulp and paper mills in North America.

He will be missed by his wife, Jeanette, his children, Peter, Tara Kern and Donna, his nine grandchildren, and his friends and colleagues in the industry.

Peter Schmid, president of Tessag-KSH in Montreal, passed away in October, at the age of 60.

Schmid guided the company through substantial growth and a number of major pulp and paper projects in Canada and in many different parts of the world.

He will be missed by his wife (Muschi), his children (Olivier, Colin and Susy) and grandchild (Matthew), as well as many colleagues.
