Domtar’s Corporate Operations Center in Fort Mill, S.C., has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) ENERGY STAR certification, which signifies that the building performs in the top 25% of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency, while meeting strict energy efficiency performance levels set by the EPA.

“Through this achievement, we have demonstrated our commitment to environmental stewardship while also lowering our energy costs,” said Dennis L’Hommedieu, facilities manager for the Fort Mill Operations Center.

Commercial buildings that earn EPA’s ENERGY STAR certification use an average of 35% less energy than typical buildings. Domtar improved its Operations Center’s energy performance through employee education and engagement, and by working closely with building management to implement cost-effective improvements over time.
