Domtar is reopening its sawmill in Nairn, ON. Starting October 20, one shift of 15 workers will be back on the job, the Midnorth Monitor reported.

The mill closed two years ago and was put up for sale, however, communications officer Lynne Gibson confirmed that is no longer the case. “At this time there has been no indication that the mill is for sale. However, Domtar evaluates each mill on an individual basis and is always looking for opportunities,” the Monitor reported her as saying.

High input costs and weak market conditions prompted the closure. Originally, 150 people were employed at the facility, and there has been no confirmation that the mill will return to full production.
