Montreal, QC — Domtar took out ads in key publications recently in order to affirm the importance of the company to the Quebec forest industry. This move was a protest against the unilateral decision of Minister Bechard to withdraw some of Domtar’s forest license rights without consultation or prior notice.

The message notes that these actions, taken by the Minister of Natural Resources and Wildlife, “have created useless uncertainty in the industry, and could disrupt the activities of businesses that depend on the movement of wood fibre between several regions of Quebec, notably the Northwest and the Outaouais. These activities represent more than $800 million of annual business.”
