On April 22nd, a lucky student will be selected as the national grand prize winner of the Toyota Earth Day Scholarship Program. Established by Toyota Canada Inc. and Earth Day Canada, the scholarship was created to help cultivate environmental leadership in young people from communities across the country. Over the next few weeks, each regional finalist will be announced at a local ceremony, where he or she will be presented with a cheque and scholarship certificate for the amount of $5,000. The group of 15 students, who are entering post-secondary studies, is being recognized for outstanding achievements in environmental community service, academics and extracurricular participation. The scholarship is offered to students attending a Canadian university of college, or Quebec junior college in a chosen field of study, and is not restricted to one university, college, or field. The only stipulation is that the student attend a post-secondary institution in Canada.
