Three banks and a technology-consulting firm — Bank of Montreal, Barclays of Australia, New Zealand Banking Group and American Management Systems — have formed a partnership to offer what it calls “trade services transaction processing.” The new independent unit, which expects to start operations in mid-2001, will use Internet-based technology to facilitate international trade for its corporate clients.

ABB has acquired The Cellier Group, a French-based wet end chemical producer. It will be integrated into ABB Automation’s pulp, paper, metal and minerals division.
