The Gazette reported officials as confirming that Russell was crushed when he was caught between a front-end loader and a log truck. The report further confirmed that no autopsy was required, as there was a witness to the accident.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the U.S. Department of Labor is in the process of conducting an investigation into the tragedy.

“Domtar’s Ashdown mill is cooperating fully in an investigation of the employee fatality,” the Gazette reported Max Braswell, communications and government relations manager for the mill as saying. “Emergency personnel from both the mill and local community responded to the incident, and the mill is working closely with other appropriate agencies, including OSHA in the investigation,” he added.
