Roughly 30 Stora Enso Port Hawkesbury employees started back at work on August 9, after being out of work since December.

“Each week after this week, we’ll be getting more employees and we’ll ramp up to about 200+ hourly employees by September,” the CBC reported Stora Enso spokeswoman Patricia Dietz as saying.

The company is preparing the mill for full operation in the instance that it manages to secure the new power rate it stipulated as one of its major conditions for restarting the facility.

“The whole purpose of us bringing back some of the hourly employees is to make early preparations to begin mill operations as soon as possible,” Dietz added.
