Georgia-Pacific mill to cut hundreds of jobs

February 1, 2018  By P&PC Staff

Feb. 1, 2018 – Media outlets are reporting that Georgia-Pacific’s Camas paper mill will cut roughly 243 jobs beginning May 1. According to The Associated Press, the layoffs will affect more than half the mill’s 400 workers.

The Atlanta, Georgia-based company first announced plans for the layoffs last November but hadn’t said when they would happen.

Opened in 1885, the mill employed about 2,400 workers in the 1980s and produced office paper for printer and copiers. Its paper towel operations will remain intact.
