December 5, 2006  By Pulp & Paper Canada

Georgia-Pacific is closing a converting plant in Green Bay. The shutdown will be permanent, and 73 people will be put out of work as a result. Layoffs will become effective as of January 29, 2007.

According to a report by the Business Journal, the plant’s production will be sent over to the company’s Broadway mill, which is also in Green Bay. That particular mill has benefited from a $75 million investment over the past several years.<br>
