A Government of Canada program is providing funding for 115 projects under the Canada Wood Export Program. The newly allocated funds will work to create opportunities for Canadian wood products in the global marketplace by increasing exports and establishing Canada as a supplier of high-quality wood products.

Although Canada currently exports an extensive range of wood products and related services ranging from traditional lumber and panel products to engineered composite products, building systems and architectural services, the need for diversification remains paramount. The Canada Wood Export Program specifically addresses this need while continuing to conserve and cultivate seasoned markets such as that of the United States.

A total of 15 industry associations submitted projects for 2004-2005. After a revision completed by an interdepartmental committee and the Canada Wood Management Program, the projects were approved. The new funding will support international representation overseas, create opportunities for branding initiatives, provide technical support activities, product testing and accreditation of Canadian wood products.
