MISSISSAUGA, ON — Peacock’s Instrumentation division is marketing a hand-held gas monitoring unit, BW Technologies’ GasAlert. The unit, which weighs 2.9 oz., can detect hydrogen sulphide, carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide and oxygen. The monitor’s continuous LCD readout shows real-time concentration with a backlight; and full and peak values can be displayed on command. Operators can preselect alarm settings — either low, high or TWA — up to a 90-dB tone, by using the unit’s set-points. The battery has a life-span of three years, or 9000 hours.
