International Paper has named MARY LASCHINGER president of International Paper Europe.

After 30 years with the company, DUDLEY LEHMAN is retiring from his position as president of Kimberly-Clark’s Business-to-Business group.

IRENEE PHILIPPE has been appointed head of technology for Ciba Specialty Chemicals’ paper chemicals business in the NAFTA region.

Weyerhaeuser has named MARVIN RAY RISCO managing director, South America.

UPM’s president JUSSI PESONEN has been named chairman of the Finnish Forest Industries Federation

JOHN F. CASSIDY has been elected to Albany International’s board of directors. He was also named a member of the company’s compensation committee.

TAPPI president WAYNE H. GROSS CAE, retired on January 1st, capping a 30-year career with the association.

The 11th annual Paper Industry International Hall of Fame has added six paper industry innovators to its roster. ROBERT C. BUCHANAN, non-executive chairman of Fix River Paper was inducted under the categories of leadership and entrepreneur. Professor JOHAN ERIK GULLICHSEN, chairman Ahlstrom Corporation and CEO of Arhippainen Gullichsen & Co. was inducted in the categories of research and development, entrepreneur and academic. DR. MICHAEL J. KOCUREK, professor and department head of Wood & Paper Science at North Carolina State University, was inducted in the academic category. JAMES F. KRESS, chairman of Green Bay Packaging, was inducted for his leadership abilities. BRUCE BARTON PURDY, retired vice president of Appleton Wire Works and retired director of Albany International Co. was inducted in the technology category. DR. W. HOWARD RAPSON, professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Toronto was inducted posthumously for technology.

ALLEN CHAN of Sino-Forest Corp. was ranked number 27 in the Financial Post’s Business magazine top 200 Canadian CEO’s. ALAIN LEMAIRE was ranked number 180, RAYMOND ROYER of Domtar was number 185, RUSS HORNER of Catalyst Paper was number 193, JOHN WEAVER of Abitibi-Consolidated was number 194 and FRANK DOTTORI was number 199.

Myllykoski North America has announced that MIKE OSTROWSKI will assume the responsibilities of vice president of sales and marketing.

JYRI SALO has been appointed executive vice president and CFO for UPM. As of February 1st, he will report to Jussi Pesonen, president and CEO.

Voith Paper has appointed MARK HINES to the newly created position of vice president of corporate accounts with Voith Paper Rolls North America. He assumed the position on January 1st, 2006.
