Catalyst Paper has appointed KEITH PURCHASE as chairman of its board of directors. He is additionally a member of the company’s audit committee and chairs the environment, health and safety committee. Also named to the company’s board was MARK DODSON, president and CEO of Northwest Natural Gas Company.

Weyerhaeuser has named PETER W. SHERLAND vice president of procurement and transportation. Prior to this appointment, Sherland served the company as vice president of transportation and logistics, a position he held since 2002. The new appointment was made upon the retirement of ROBERT W. BOYD JR.

Tembec has made several changes to its sales and marketing division.

Under the new organization, JASON COSS will be responsible for all paper pulp in the North American and Asian markets as vice president, TISCO (Tembec International Sales Corporation) North America and Asia.

ERIC VANDENHOECK will oversee all paper pulp operations in the European market as vice president, TISCO Europe. Additionally, he will assume the duties of general manager of the TISCO office in Signy, Switzerland.

JAVIER ZUBIA will be responsible for sales coordination for the Tembec Saint-Gaudens and Tarascon operations in France as manager, sales kraft. He will also assume sales responsibility for Spain.

JORG BRUSCHWEILER will coordinate European sales for the newly acquired AV Nackawic pulp mill, while at the same time maintaining responsibility for sales coordination for high yield pulp in Europe and all paper pulp in Northern Europe.

JOHN FARACI, chairman and CEO of International Paper, has been named Executive Papermaker of the Year.

Caraustar Industries has appointed JOHN T. HEALD JR. to its board of directors. He will serve on the compensation and employee benefits committee.

Voith Paper Rolls has named DR. YANG T. SHIEH senior manager, polyurethane and composite cover development.

GEORGE WEYERHAEUSER JR. has been seconded to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development in the role of senior fellow in the office of the president for a two-year period.

MIKE HANCOCK retired from a 28-year career with Pira, after spending the last eight years as managing director.
