DWIGHT YOCHIM has been appointed director of professional practice and forest stewardship at the Association of BC Forest Professionals.

Bowater has undergone several organizational changes. R. DONALD NEWMAN remains CEO and additionally assumed the position of executive vice president of manufacturing. Reporting to Newman is GAYNOR L. NASH, who has been promoted to senior vice president of manufacturing for Catawba, Calhoun and Coose Pines operations.

Also reporting to Newman is DAVID A. SPRALEY, who joined Bowater as senior vice president of manufacturing for the company’s Mokpo, Thunder Bay, Mersey, Grenada and Ponderay sites. LUC LACHAPELLE has been promoted to senior vice president of manufacturing for the Donnacona, Dolbeau, Dalhousie and Gatineau sites, while VIV BILODEAU has been promoted to vice president of manufacturing services. PIERRE MONAHAN is now executive vice presient of building products, RANDY ELLINGTON is senior vice president of newsprint and sales, WILLIAM MORRIS is senior vice president for coated and specialty papers sales and marketing. W. ERIC STREED joined the company as executive vice president of operations and process improvement.

DR. CHARLES JAGO has been appointed chairman of the board of the General Partner of Canfor Pulp Limited.

ANN STIRLING ROBERTS is leaving her position as director of Pira International, after spending 11 years with the organization. GREG WOOD, who has spent more than 20 years at Pira and heads up the packaging, paper and print consultancy groups, will replace her.

Sappi has appointed MARK THOMPSON as CFO. He also joined the company’s board as an executive director.

Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation has named COLIN FERNIE vice president and general manager of Smurfit-MBI. He succeeds STEVE STRANG, who is retiring.

JAMES HANNAN is Georgia-Pacific’s new president and CEO. Hannan, along with Michael C. Burandt, are new members of GP’s board of directors.

KALLE REPONEN has been appointed senior vice president, strategy, mergers and acquisitions at Metso’s corporate office.

Nashua Corporation has elected MICHAEL T. LEATHERMAN to its board of directors.

Honeywell appointed TOM MACLEOD regional general manager for its process solutions Canada division.

Rock-Tenn promoted KEVIN SULLIVAN to the position of vice president, coated paperboard and market pulp sales for the company’s paperboard division.

The Finnish Forest Industries Federation named ANDERS PORTIN senior vice president, sustainable development and resources, effective as of October 1, 2006.
