Bowater has named PETER BENJUNG vice president of pulp sales. Benjung had been director of the company’s fluff business since 2001. That position is now open. Reporting to Benjung are GLENN HARDING, director of North American sales, and JOHN MCDONALD, director of export sales.

TimberWest has appointed ROBERT J. HOLMES to its board of directors.

Georgia-Pacific has promoted KATHLEEN A. WALTERS, previously group president – U.S. retail tissue and international consumer products, and CHRISTIAN FISCHER, previously group president – packaging, to expanded roles as executive vice presidents.

Pope & Talbot has announced several leadership changes. With the retirement of MICHAEL FLANNERY, HAROLD STANTON is the new president and CEO, while LIONEL DODD assumed the board chairmanship.

Catalyst Paper has named DAVID SMALES vice president, finance and CFO. Smales had been serving in the role in an acting capacity since March 29, 2007.

Canfor has appointed THOMAS TUTSCH as a director of the company. He replaced BEN DUSTER, who resigned.

DAN HOLLINGSHEAD has been named executive vice president at the Pap Group in Eugene OR, where he will be responsible for strategic planning and development for the company.

UPM Kymmene appointed HANS SOHLSTROM executive vice president, business development biofuels and biochemicals.
