Pulp & Paper Canada welcomes NAN RYDER as the new editor-in-chief of the magazine. Ryder began her new job at the beginning of November, replacing ANYA ORZECHOWSKA, who will continue to work for Pulp & Paper Canada from abroad as the associate editor.

Peter Bentley, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Canfor is pleased to announce the appointment of J. MACK SINGLETON to Canfor’s Board of Directors. Singleton is currently the CEO of New South Companies, headquartered in Myrtle Beach, SC. New South is a wholly owned subsidiary of Canfor, acquired in March 2006.

Georgia-Pacific has named WILLIAM A. “BILL” FRERKING Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer. He previously was chief counsel for the company’s building products businesses.

In this newly created position, Frerking is responsible for the company’s overall sustainability efforts, including working with Georgia-Pacific’s business units and procurement and staff groups to develop and implement sustainability strategies, goals, measurement and reporting.

Georgia-Pacific announced that JOE MOELLER, the company’s Chairman and CEO, will return to Koch Industries as vice chairman and a member of its board of directors, effective Nov. 1, 2007. Moeller will continue as a member of Georgia-Pacific’s board of directors.

JIM HANNAN, Georgia-Pacific’s President and COO, will be promoted to CEO and president. Hannan joined Georgia-Pacific in December 2005 as executive vice president and chief administrative officer. He was named president and chief operating officer in 2006.

Kruger has announced the appointment of SYLVAIN TOUTANT as Executive Vice President, Consumer Products of Kruger. Toutant will assume the responsibility for a number of business units, including one of the largest, Kruger Products. He will also support the development of other business units in the consumer products sector, including Kruger Wines and Spirits.

Neenah Paper announced that JOHN P. O’DONNELL has joined the company as President of Fine Paper, reporting to SEAN ERWIN, CEO.

Western Forest Products announced the appointment of MURRAY JOHNSTON as the Company’s new CFO and Vice President of Finance. Johnston is expected to assume his duties in the beginning of January, 2008.

Smurfit-Stone’s VP of international sales for pulp and containerboard, EVE RAE, will retire from the company, effective February 29, 2008. She has been with the company for 31 years. BRUCE MCLENNAN has been named her successor.
