Ahlstrom-Munksjö develops wax alternative paper for packaging

ParaFree Wax Alternative Papers are an eco-friendly, fiber-based solution that are paraffin wax free, which the company says reduces the dependency on petroleum-based ingredients.

With the reduction of the wax, the basis weight of the end-use product is reduced, decreasing overall material use. These products, primarily used in the food packaging and fast food industries, are built with recyclability and compostability in mind.

The ParaFree Wax Alternative Papers are water repellant and resistant to many oils and condiments. In addition to being printable on both sides, the paper’s higher brightness and opacity compared to traditional wax papers strengthens the visibility of the consumer’s brand image and message.

ParaFree Papers are available with bleached or Ahlstrom-Munksjö’s trulyNatural fibre.
