Papier Masson Ltd., Masson-Angers, QC, has made a number of key senior appointments: ASHOK NARANG, chairman and chief executive officer; ANDR LEGAULT, vice-president, operations; GILLES LAROCQUE, vice-president and finance manager; and JOCK COULSON, vice-president, sales and marketing.

Weyerhaeuser Canada Fine Papers, Brampton, ON, has announced several appointments, a result of its acquisition of Bowater Canada’s mill in Dryden, ON: BOB BARROWCLOUGH, Canadian zone manager; RHEAL GINGRAS, district sales manager; SERGE BIBEAU, account executive; DAN BLAHITKA, account executive; PAUL BUTLER, account executive; BILL JUSTASON, account executive; and DAN KLEEMOLA, technical services manager.

On April 27, 1999, JOHN WEAVER will take over as president and chief executive officer of Abitibi-Consolidated Inc., Montreal, QC. This follows the announced retirements of JAMES DOUGHAN, current chief executive officer, and RON OBERLANDER, operating chairman.

The Canadian Pulp and Paper Association has named PIERRE MONAHAN of Montreal-based Alliance Forest Products Inc. its chairman and DAVE ANDERSON of Vancouver-based Canfor Ltd. its vice-chairman. As well, during PaperWeek, the Howard Hart Medal of Excellence was given to ROLAND CYRENNE, vice-chairman of Kruger Inc., and the Robert Findlay Chisholm Award to ROGER COOK of Domtar Inc., Montreal, QC.

Greenville, SC-based Bowater Inc. has elected three new corporate officers: DAVID J. STEUART, president of the pulp division; JERRY R. GILMORE, vice-president of US and Korea operations; and R. DONALD NEWMAN, vice-president of Canadian newsprint operations.

MARTIN SCHEUING, a 28-year pulp industry veteran, has joined Trebor Inc. as director of marketing. As well, the company has engaged W. STANLEY McDERMOTT on a consulting basis. He has more than 40 years of experience in the wood pulp industry, most recently as president of Bulkley & Co.

New Logic International, Emeryville, CA, has named LARRY STOWELL to its sales engineering team.

UPM-Kymmene Paper Division has promoted HANNU SIIKALA to vice-president of business and organizational development.

Beloit Corp., Deerfield, IL, has appointed JOHN NOVOTNY as director of corporate information technology; and KEN STEPHENS as vice-president and controller, operations.
