International Paper is shutting down the No. 3 paper machine at its Valliant mill in Oklahoma. On November 1, 60 jobs will be eliminated as the facility’s output is cut by 430,000 tons.
The company cited high fibre and other input costs as necessitating the closure. Laid-off workers will be provided with severance and outplacement assistance.

The machine currently produces containerboard. Responsibility for key grades churned out by the machine will be transitioned to some of the company’s other mills.
