A total of 200 jobs will be slashed when International Paper finishes implementing the announced shut downs of two paper machines, one in Maine, the other in Florida. April 1st will mark the elimination of 90 jobs when the 40-year-old No. 1 paper machine at the company’s Androscoggin Mill in Jay, Maine, is shut down. An additional 110 people will be out of work in early April when a paper machine at the Pensacola mill in Cantonment, Florida, faces a similar fate.
A task force has been set up to provide displaced workers with job training and support services.
