A two-day job fair during PaperWeek Canada in Montreal will give job seekers a chance to meet face-to-face with potential employers and learn about the hiring needs of the industry. The job fair will take place Feb. 5-6 at PaperWeek venue, the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth hotel. It is organized by PAPTAC, in collaboration with the Forest Products Association of Canada.

Workforce renewal is a growing need in the industry. There are opportunities for mechanics, engineers, researchers, electricians and equipment operators, among others. A labour market report by the Forest Products Sector Council, indicates that the industry will have to fill up to 120 000 positions over the next decade.

Participants (job seekers) will have the opportunity to meet prospective employers, and be able to distribute their CVs prior to the event and potentially have on-site interviews. They can also obtain company information, network and build relationships that could lead to later interviews. All job seekers – whether they are students or past employees in search of a job – can access the Job Fair at no cost. Find further details at the PaperWeek web site at www.paperweekcanada.ca/jobfair.html.

Participating employers are invited to have a booth and send recruiters or hiring supervisors to the event. They can also receive CVs prior to the event and conduct on-site interviews, and provide company materials for distribution.
