Kimberly-Clark is gearing up to slash 6,000 jobs and close or sell 20 of its plants. The company intends to focus its energies on its diaper and health-care units while looking to expand its business in the areas of India and China.
The company confirmed it will record charges in the ballpark of $625 million and $775 million through 2008. The restructuring will imply a cut of roughly 10% of its work force and 17% of its manufacturing facilities.
