Kruger might not be officially closing any of its mills, but employees at the company’s three North Shore sawmills aren’t exactly sitting pretty.

The company has extended its shutdown of the Ragueneau, Forestville and Longue Rive facilities for another two weeks, until October 29. The mills first closed on September 17, at which point 14-day closures were expected.

Kruger says the interruptions are ‘essentially due to current poor conditions that persist in North American lumber markets and the rise in value of the Canadian dollar.’
