CASTLEGAR, BC — Asian Pulp and Paper Company Ltd. of Singapore has struck a deal to buy Celgar Pulp Company and its 420 000-t/y northern bleached softwood kraft pulp mill. Management consultants KPMG Inc. sold the mill, acting as receiver of Stone Venepal (Celgar) Pulp Inc. APP said that the acquisition “will provide a secure and reliable source of raw materials, thereby fully integrating APP’s operations. The sale must meet regulatory approvals in Canada.
