Mercer International and West Fraser have announced their joint venture Cariboo Pulp and Paper in Quesnel, British Columbia will be taking approximately four weeks of downtime.
The companies say the downtime is a result of reduced fibre availability resulting from regional sawmill downtime and other impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The downtime is expected to start on April 20, resulting in an approximate reduction of NBSK production of 30,000 tonnes. Both Mercer and West Fraser have shares of 15,000 tonnes.
