UPM-Kymmene Miramichi Inc. said the Local 144 CEP (Communications, Energy and Paperworkers) members at its Blackville sawmill has ratified a new contract agreement.
The agreement, reached in June by the company and union negotiating teams, was passed by a vote of 76 % in favour.
After a vote last Aug. 22, where the union membership had rejected the company’s final offer, the company called for a clarification meeting.
The new contract will be in effect until Oct. 31/06. Blackville Lumber currently employs 66 people, including 52 members of the bargaining unit.
