MONTREAL, QC — Domtar Inc. plans to modernize its sawmill in Malartic, QC, a town about 125 kilometres northwest of Ottawa, near Rouyn-Noranda. The aim of the equipment upgrade, which is part of the company’s $130-million sawmill upgrade program, said the company, “[is to] boost plant performance and increase the production of higher-grade lumber.” Work is scheduled to begin July 21, which has shut down the mill. It is expected that the mill will re-open in October.
