Citing the costs involved, Tembec Inc. will no longer accept recycled paper and newspapers at its newsprint mill at Pine Falls, Manitoba. Instead of utilizing old paper, the mill is switching to new trees to save money. The switch from recycled paper will see an additional 200,000 trees harvested per annum. Meanwhile, the recycling industry says Tembec’s decision will hurt the recycling impetus and have asked the province to intercede.
