Harold Norlund has joined Catalyst Paper as the operations leader for the Port Alberni, B.C., mill, the Alberni Valley Times reports. According the paper, he replaces former general manager Fred Chinn, who transferred to the company’s mill in Powell River, B.C.

Norlund brings almost 30 years of experience in operating mills to Catalyst Paper.

“We have to keep our mill in a continuous improvement-type mode, whether it's in quality or reducing our impact on the environment or the cost of manufacturing," Norlund told the Times.

Catalyst recruited Norlund from Port Angeles, Washington, where he was the executive vice-president of operations for Nippon Paper Industries.
