FedNor funds technical support for Northern Ontario wood products sector

The Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FedNor) will provide funding for FPInnovations to assist with the growth of Northern Ontario’s wood products manufacturing sector.

The Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FedNor) will provide funding for FPInnovations to assist with the growth of Northern Ontario’s wood products manufacturing sector.

FedNor is investing $1.02 million towards technical support for small- to medium-sized enterprises, communities, and First Nations to develop value-added wood products and increase productivity of value-added wood manufacturers in Northern Ontario. To achieve this objective, five FPInnovations Industry Advisors with expertise in wood products manufacturing will provide technical advice and support to value-added wood manufacturers in Northern Ontario.

Funding is provided through the Innovation Technology Adoption component of FedNor’s Northern Ontario Development Program, which supports projects that strengthen community economic development, enhance business growth, and facilitate innovation throughout the region. Additional funding for this project was provided by Natural Resources Canada.

FPInnovations is a not-for-profit organization that specializes in the creation of scientific solutions in support of the Canadian forest sector.
