Nov. 3, 2017 - The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) is welcoming Pierre Lapointe, president and CEO of FPInnovations, as its newly elected international member during its 98th annual meeting that took place in Stockholm, Sweden.

Lapointe also delivered a speech at a banquet of 600 guests including Prince Carl Philip of Sweden. Among other topics, he stressed the importance of being part of the Academy as an international member. In addition, his presence has helped foster a new era of cooperation between Canada and Sweden.

Founded in 1919, The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences describes itself as the world’s first academy of engineering sciences. It currently has 1,300 elected members from Sweden and abroad. The Academy strives to influence social development and policy-making through knowledge transfer activities as well as through scientific projects.

“I am very honoured to be part of about 300 international members of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. I hope I will thus be able to contribute toward representing Canada's forest sector within the international scientific community, as well as showcase our scientific expertise and recent technological achievements,” said Lapointe.
